Frequently asked questions

The things families ask us before they get started. If your question isn't here, call us. We would rather answer it properly.

No. At The Play Base, a formal diagnosis is not required to access our private-pay services. We support children with a variety of developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs, whether or not they have a diagnosis. However, if you plan to use insurance to cover ABA therapy, a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is typically required, along with any additional documentation requested by your insurance provider. If you're noticing challenges at home, at school, or in everyday life, we're here to help you explore the support that may be right for your child.

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna, and we work with private-pay families. If you are covered by a different plan, call us. We will tell you honestly whether we can help and what your options are.

At home, in the community, and wherever else the skills your child is learning need to work. We serve Palm Beach County and North Broward County in South Florida.

A behavioral therapist matched individually to your child, based on their needs. All of our therapists have a background in behavioral sciences and/or education or early childhood education, and every one of them is directly supervised and trained by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Applied Behavior Analysis is a scientifically validated approach to understanding and changing behavior. At The Play Base it is delivered through play. We follow what your child already loves and build the learning into it, rather than pulling them away from it.

It is an exploratory call, not a sales pitch. You talk to us about what is going on, we ask questions, and we tell you honestly whether we are the right fit and what the options are. There is no script and no wrong answer.

Yes. Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts provide professional development and classroom support to schools, so the strategies used in session can be the same ones used in the classroom.
